My Micro SD Adapter won't read on my laptop!?

So I am trying to test my micro SD card & adapter if it will read on my laptop to see if it'll work. I'm going on vacation tomorrow and most of my pictures WILL be on my phone, but I am just finding out that my adapter won't read on my computer! No, I didn't format the micro SD card on my phone at first. I tried MANY times, putting the card in and out but it doesn't read at all! Then I tried formatting the SD card on my phone, it didn't help at all! What should I do?
