Smiling in stead of saying "bless you?"?

just before, i was in line at a bookstore, and i sneezed. just a normal sneeze...so i would figure that the girl who was on line in front of me would just say "bless you" but instead, she just turned back, looked at me, and smiled for a few seconds without saying anything.......why do you think she did that?
