Sony Xperia X10 Internal memory and RAM?

Reading through the blogs somebody brought up the top about re-formatting the memory and that got me thinking. I might be mistaken but does the RAM and internal storage use the same type of memory that has be allocated for RAM and storage?? And if so can't we revers it to give the X10 more RAM in stead of internal storage since with the 2.3 update we wouldn't need much, since we can install apps on the SD card????
