If i reinstall my operating system will i have to purchase a new avg antivirus subscription?

Does anybody know how this works? - Say I install AVG on my PC then format and reinstall. Can I use the same antivirus and cd-key for my new OS. (I am gonna remove win 7 x64 and re-install it because of a problem I'm having.)
