My dad had 2 kids from a previous marriage that he never saw, I wonder if they think he did not care?

Yes, usually kids think that way, my dad didn't see us and I do think he abandoned us. Until very late in life we were in touch with him and understood many things. Still I think he could have done more to claim his right to see us.
